Insperation

Thu Aug 20, 2009, 9:28 AM
I haven't had any inspiration in a while, and I don't post all my works up on da. But something happened. something I was not expecting. just recently a few friends down on their luck moved in and one of my new roomies is always drawing. She got to looking through some of my art, some of the stuff i do not have posted and some stuff i do. We talk about art for some time and she told me that she is a big fan of anime and wants me to teach her to draw. I laughed thinking that she was kidding as my art is nothing to aspire to and come to find out she is serious! I told her i would not teach her anime drawing though and she was happy to learn anyway.

I thought back to when i was young and i learned about creativity and art. we played this game that 4 or 5 children would play at a time. we would sit in a circle. Took a piece of paper and put 1 or 2 lines on it. then the game would begin. Each person would have roughly a minute or so, mind you we were not timing it, to draw something using only the lines on the paper as starters. soon the paper would have creations every which way on it as the paper got passed. Well i decided to test my friends level of art and creativity with this game.

As the game evolved between her and I the paper began spinning. I first started with things that she would be able to guess what they were right away and moved into creations that would not revile them self to her till the last line. I was having to use my head to think of the lines before i put them down in a confined amount of time. When the paper began getting full I started going back over previous art using the same lines that we had drawn earlier to create brand new creatures.
This game taught me a lot about her art and a lot about my own. She awakened a spark inside me for ideas and i have been putting them to paper. I should have some of them posted soon. I have decided to teach her what i know though it is not much.

I see a lot of potential in my friends work and i think she will surpass anything i can do in no time. As soon as she gets on her feet i am thinking about having her go to a few art classes, then she can teach me. lol.

No Problem Supajoe! I really like your work. The lines are nice and clean and the anatomy is spot on. something to aspire to. I also happen to really like Mrs. Frost she is right up there with Black Cat and Shi. Keep up the beautiful work, I hope to see more.
